Task 4.3: Socio Economic Impact Assessment
(M1 – M12) (HCMR, Ifremer, MI, EuroGOOS, HCMR SEMRU, all nations)
Assessing the socio-economic impact (SEI) of a research infrastructure (RI) is an increasingly important activity in demonstrating the benefits it provides to society. This task will evaluate the JERICO-RI socio-economic impact by development of methodology, verification through case study of selected National RI. The task will establish appropriate indicators to measure the SEI of a RI. Building on work done by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to develop a framework to assess the socio-economic impact of research infrastructures, this task aims to consider indicators that are relevant for the JERICO RI. These indicators will be linked to the strategic objectives of JERICO RI and will be used to assess its performance in achieving these objectives.
The development of these indicators will enable the JERICO-RI to estimate its current socio-economic impact and assess future performance as the development of the RI progresses. The SEI will identify the RI’s relevance to societal challenges and the potential economic impact will be predicted.
This task will outcome on a dedicated short report in MS4.2 at M12 and will feed deliverable D4.3.
