As part of the 9th EuroGOOS Conference, the JERICO-RI and 10 European Research Infrastructures in the Marine domain have gathered to organise a Marine Research Infrastructures (RIs) side event on:
Wednesday 5 May, 15:00 – 17:00 CEST (virtual event)
The aim of this side event is to bring together scientists and officers from the various marine Research Infrastructures (RIs) and marine research communities across Europe, to discuss our future strategy under a collaborative plan within the landscape of the UN Decade of Ocean Science and the European Ocean Observing System (EOOS).
In line with the EOOS vision and the UN Decade of Ocean Science objectives, we will discuss the next steps in the sharing of knowledge and expertise, strengthening cooperation on both field activities and new technologies and possibly integration of activities when relevant, creating robust interactive data interfaces, promoting joint activities on marine research and services, and raising public awareness on marine environmental issues.
We will first provide you with an overview of the European Research Infrastructures (RIs) that have been /are being set up either as ERICs (European Research Infrastructure Consortia) with engagement at ministry level, or as AISBL with engagement at institute level. We will then identify what is the potential of such RIs as key elements of the EOOS and what should be the priorities in terms of a consolidated action plan that should be carried out in the coming years to better serve the EuroGOOS community.
The event is free and open to everyone.
To participate, you need to register for the EuroGOOS Conference.
